Gala Wanderers Training

Gala Wanderers training for next season will commence on Tuesday 3rd July at Netherdale 6.30 start. Then every Tuesday & Thursday. Training for Season 2012/13 has now started every Tuesday and Thursday staring at 7.00.

Academy Rugby Skills Sessions

Summer Rugby Skills Camp on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday 7,8 & 9th August 10.00 -12.00 at Galashiels Academy open to all New S1, S2 and S3 Academy pupils. Come along and TRY for all levels beginners and experienced players welcome. Contact Mr Bertram Academy P.E.Department for booking form or for more details These sessions are Free of charge.

GALASHIELS ACADEMY RUGBY CHAMP

Scottish Rugby recognises the valuable contribution that teachers have made for many years, and continue to make, in supporting, organising and coaching rugby in schools across Scotland. Therefore, in 2008-09 Scottish Rugby launched the Schools Rugby Champions initiative. Our aim being to identify, recruit, support and reward a suitable member of staff in each state secondary school in Scotland, to act as the Champion for Rugby in that school, and help us ‘grow the game’ in communities across the country so that more young people can enjoy the benefits that involvement in rugby brings.
Each Rugby Champion receives a package of incentives including kit and equipment, as well as the support of local development staff. These awards reflect the level of rugby participation they have achieved in their schools and the valued service they provide to the local rugby community. Galashiels Academy Teacher Neil Brown was recently presented with kit & rugby balls from Gala Rugby DO Ian G Millar.

GRT COACHES REQUIRED

Due to the retirement of some of the current coaches Gala Red Triangle require coaches at most age groups for next season. If interested you should contact Lyal Purves or Ian G Millar for more information.

Netherdale News Coordinator

Gala Rugby is looking for a willing volunteer to take over the role of coordinating the Netherdale news the weekly information slot in the Border Telegraph starting from the 1st week in June. Would suit someone who has a spare hour or two on a Monday morning, we feel it is very important that we keep this form of communication going as it promotes and informs everyone on what is going on within Gala Rugby on a regular basis. Anyone interested in taking on the role or would like further information please give Ian G Millar a call office 01896 755145
