PLAYING SQUADS FOR 2013/14 SEASON

We are now actively trying to strengthen our playing squads for 2013/14 season, our aim is to compete at the top end of club rugby in Scotland and win the RBS Premiership championship and RBS Cup and we also offer our squad the opportunity to compete at the highest level in club rugby in the British & Irish Cup. Our priorities are for a quality 10, along with quality midfield, front and second row players. Interested in any position in first instance contact:

CLUB NOTICES

ON AND OFF THE PITCH

Mini Maroons AGM. 12th June.

The Mini's AGM will take place in the Centenary lounge at Gala Rugby Club on Wednesday 12th June starting at 7.00. All coaches, parents, Grandparents are welcome to attend. We are always looking for adults to help with the continuing development of Mini rugby in Gala. If you would like to help contact any current Mini coach.

GALA YM PRESENTATION NIGHT

YM Presentation Night - The annual YM smoker and awards presentation night will take place in the YM clubrooms on Friday 31st May 2013. Main speaker for the evening will be Stuart McCulloch of Radio Borders. The various player of the year awards will also be presented on the evening. Tickets are available from the YM clubrooms priced £10 including supper and the event is 7pm for a prompt 7.30pm start.

Scottish Under17 Squad

Congratulations to Galashiels Academy and Gala Wands players Gary Robertson and Ruairi Howarth who have been selected for the Scottish U17 development squad will spend an intensive fortnight at the facility in Valladolid in north-central Spain in early July Scotland U17 head coach Peter Laverie said: "Selection came through a variety of sources - from national selection fixtures, reports from age-grade coaches, exile camps and a trial game, and a national trials weekend at the Scottish Police College at Tulliallan."It was difficult to narrow down the squad from such a wide field this year and the standard of this key group is very high."
Both Gary and Ruairi have came up through the Gala Rugby pathway system both playing at The Mini Maroons, G.R.T,Galashiels Academy and Gala Wanderers.These two players are a fine example to all aspiring young rugby players and if you work hard the rewards are there and these two young lads fully deserve their selection. It’s back by popular demand, Gala Rugby Family touch rugby every Thursday night starting 16th May, 7.00 at Netherdale. Everyone welcome male, female, young and old, players and non-players. ISLAY STAR VETS

Congratulations to the Islay Star Vets who won the The Melrose Vets Tournament last Friday. They beat a strong Crusaders team in the Final score: Islay Star 17 Crusaders 14
This is the second year on the trot that the "boys" have won this event.
