'Hovis' Induction into Melrose Sevens Hall of Fame

We are delighted that our own ‘Hovis’, (Arthur Brown) is going to be justifiably inducted into the Melrose Rugby Hall of Fame this Thursday evening.

Hovis was a stalwart of Gala Rugby, starting his career in 1968 and culminating in 1982 after 335 games for the Gala 1st XV during which time he scored 48 tries, completed 319 successful conversions, 300 penalties and 30 drop goals. These stats do not include his appearances for Scotland or the South.

In addition they do not include his many 7’s appearances for which he is being rightly inducted into the Melrose Hall of Fame. For the record Hovis has collected 25 Winners medals and 8 Runners- Up medals a truly staggering achievement, which includes 5 Winners medals and 3 Runners Up medals at Melrose Sevens.

Hovis is a true titan of the game and we wish him all the best for what is sure to be a very enjoyable and rewarding evening. Congratulations from all your ex playing colleagues and friends and all those of us at the Club who value having you around.
